Vasectomy Reversal - Fees & Costs

COSTS - $5,800.00 Total Cost

Vasovasostomy costs vary greatly from location to location and from physician to physician.  As with most services, the higher the volume, the lower one can afford to charge for the individual service.  This is not to say that the costs are not substantial, but this procedure can be performed effectively and expertly for a reasonable out of pocket cost, also considering the travel cost associated with coming here for this procedure.  Many surgeons also utilize an add on code for the use of a surgical microscope. This may hide some of the obvious cost of the procedure initially.   Then there is also the cost of the initial consultation and any follow-up visits. All are included in the above figure, period.

In our office we are currently able to offer this procedure for a total cost of $5,800. This is all inclusive. There is no additional charge for an assistant, for the microscope, the operating room, or recovery.  Sometimes, vasoepididimostomy will be necessary. This is technically a  more difficult procedure than the Vasovasostomy alone, may require more time.  If this procedure is determined to be necessary at the time of surgery however, there will be no additional charge. If this is a re-do procedure, there will be an additional $1000 fee.

Many surgeons who do not own an operating microscope will only offer this procedure in a hospital setting, and with any surgical procedure, I think it is fair to say that most of us would prefer patients to be asleep when possible.  However, a general anesthetic carries all of the life threatening risks associated with major surgical procedures and is not really necessary.  There will be some discomfort associated with this procedure just like there was with your original vasectomy, regardless of whether you were told there would or would not be any, but it is quite well tolerated for most men.  Most patients will drift off to sleep with the sedation provided, and most patients feel this proceedure to be less uncomfortable than the original vasectomy. Since this procedure is not covered under your medical insurance policy, there is generally a requirement by hospitals for a substantial deposit, usually in the range of $8000 or more.  For me, it is difficult to justify this added out of pocket cost. By offering an in office alternative, we can allow many couples the possibility of pregnancy which otherwise they might not choose to afford or even be able to afford, without compromising the success rates or resorting to an inferior procedure.  I prefer providing this service in my office for several reasons besides your costs.  I have the added confidence of knowing that I have all of my own instruments available and in perfect condition.  These are all the finest counter-balanced titanium  and stainless micro-surgical instruments available and truly make a difference.  I have a microscope that I know will be available and working properly.  I also have the control of knowing when your procedure will actually start.  If you have traveled a great distance, it can be rather irritating to find your procedure being moved later and later in the day after you have not been allowed anything to eat or drink, and your surgeon is getting more and more tired.

We want to be of service to you and help you to achieve your reproductive goals. For less than the cost of a breast augmentation, you can potentially realize this potential.  We endeavor to make this procedure as easy for you as possible and welcome your comments and constructive recommendations.  We also love to receive your pictures!

Payment may be made by cash, check, or major credit card. Payment is necessary prior to the performance of this procedure for the base fee.

A nonrefundable deposit of $500 will be needed to schedule your procedure.

Please call to reserve an appointment for your procedure.  We appreciate your interest and your referrals.
